MARMOR STUDIO, Marisa Escaleira’s most recent project, constitutes the stage to this principle of floatation and to the dance of different pigments which mix within an aqueous matter, and which blend in a natural surface of silk or cotton using a marbling technique only to create handmade scarves. From this process chromatic surfaces are born with irregular and unrepeatable patterns, which constitute unique pieces.
«In the Dead Sea, because of its high level of salinity, bodies can easily float. According to the ancestral marbling technique, with roots in Japan and Persia, the color floats on an aqueous solution.»
This essay of color and matter seeks each singular floating chromatic body, imprinting on the textile surface the instantaneous gesture of capturing each appearing form.
